JET FUEL SHORTAGE

So there has been a lot of speculation regarding holidaying abroad this year with fuel prices and flights cancelled so let me give my take on this

Yes some have been cancelled and its not because destinations are unsafe its because in some places its become too expensive to fly certain routes for airlines because when fuel prices escalate then the airline have a choice they either run the flight and lose money or they can occasionally cancel the flight, but this is the scary headlines that the press forget to mention Most airlines dont just buy fuel at todays prices they do something called "fuel hedging" which means they have locked in their fuel prices for months even years in advance, so yes while fuel are at their highest point at the moment a lot of airlines are protected from that especially for the rest of 2026 Ryanair and Easyjet are well known for hedging a big chunk of their fuel early instead of scrambling or cancelling loads of flights overnight they have prepared for this99% of flights are still going ahead so only around 1% are cancelled and a similar number have major delays usually not because of fuel problems ,so we are not in a full blown panic in the holiday industry its just a small annoying disruption none the less

If you have booked a package holiday and your flight does get cancelled that doesnt mean that your holiday has gone , companies will always try and find you an alternative flight same destination, same hotel just a different flight it might mean you going a day earlier or returning a day later which can be annoying but at least you get to keep your holiday and in some cases if there is not an alternative flight your holiday will be cancelled and refundedBut most of the time a cancelled flight just means tweaking your holiday. So please whoever you have booked with as frustrating as it is we all just want to get you and your family away on a holiday disruption free xxxx
